- I have been teaching at SPCC since 2004. I love interacting with students everyday and working with my peers. I also love playing and coaching basketball, playing baseball, and golfing. I love being spontaneous and riding the wave of life where it takes me. I am also very proud to have the best wife, duaghter, and a brand new edition on the way in September. My parents are a driving force in who I have become and throughout my life I have had the best friends around me who love me for who I am. God has guided me in many ways that have turned into miracles.

Well done with the musical everyone!!! You sound great and I appreciate the Double Dream Hands tribute. I laughed out loud in the back on the gym. Its fun to see hard work pay off. I am going to do the challenge at some point tonight and also run 2 miles and do my ankle and baseball workout as well. Big game for the Celtics to so I will be watching them at 7:30. Keep drilling at the habits. I have heard people say I am giving up the habit Thursday and Friday because of the musical. Let's think of a strategy so you can enjoy the musical nights and still be healthier. I have some ideas but I want to hear yours first!!!
ReplyDeleteDay 7 Log 7: Today I was only a little late. I think that that is because I got up a little later than usual. Tonight I plan on getting to bed early, so I can get to school on time! Yay! Also, since I've been eating oatmeal, I havn't really felt much of a change, but I've been noticing I can run faster and longer than usual. Yesterday I sprinted up my hill (Which is pretty steep and long) and was able to get to the top without stoppping (I was probably going about 10 mph since it was uphill). I had never been able to do that before... That's probably because I'm in the best shape I've been in, but I guess I'll give the oatmeal some credit. Yeah... And Mr. Phillips! We can have workout periods during the musical! I don't know if that would work... allright! have fun with your habits.
ReplyDeleteToday for breakfast I tried Lucas' tip on yogurt. I Tried the Activia vanilla yougurt that we have in the fridge. Suprisingly it was really good. Tomorrow I'm going to try something else anyone suggests so post me a comment.

ReplyDeleteDay 7: Woo! Amanda, I'm with you.. I was soo tempted to bite my nails during the dress rehearsal! But I didn't. It was mostly because I had nothing to do, which is when I mostly bite them. I kind of just awkwardly looked at my nails the whole time. hahaha. i'm glad I remembered not to bite them! Juliana caught me about to bite them at the end of the day and reminded me not to.. thanks Juju! well, that's it for today.

ReplyDeletehad a few chips until i realised i wasnt suposed to eat junk food. I stopped and havent had any other junk. i decided not to run today because my legs really hurt last week and on a few websites i went on said it was bad to run every day. and i havent commented for the past 2days because my internet hasn't been working. I wrote the Logs in my science noteboock. Ill bring them in tomaro.
Hey harry there is kind of trail mix stuff that you can have for breakfast and they are called Emerald breakfast on the go.
ReplyDeleteAnother fight today. this habit is sort of about self pride. i just have issues losing arguments. im gonna retry your idea mr. phillips. and i think my mom makes the biggest deal out of the smallest things. like today she was telling me i had to "earn the right" to go to pepercorns on friday. really? thats crazy.just like an hour. big deal. + im punished for "bad grades" she wants proof that im doing better. am i in science mr. phillips answer honestly please. yeah so anyway thats part of the reason i fight. guess ill go scream into a pillow...

Day 7 Blog:
ReplyDeleteToday was good.. I feel like I did good in the dress rehearsal. Well I got home, played some ball and ran. I hit my head while playing with some friends and now I have a bump on the back of my head -___-. Well when I got home, I iced it and ate some dinner. Ate a protein bar, yogurt, & a banana.. so I haven't had junk food and it feels really good. Im going to continue it after the 2 weeks. Now i feel like trying that workout challenge....(;

Day 6: Today during musical practice I was really bored and I was getting frustrated cause the gym was hot and people were being annoying. The whole two hours in the gym really mad me angry and I wanted to swear at random people to get my mind of it, but decided not to. So then when i got home I had to babysit and my sister was getting on my nervous but I didn't swear at her, so instead I kept screaming " my fake swears" at her. It all worked at pretty well, so it was another accomplished day.
ReplyDeletetoday when i got home from school i was being lazy and not doing anything, but i eventually did my homework. then i talked to Emily on the phone. then i went outside and went to the store with Danny and Andreas..i got a red bull. TASTE THE WINGS! haha now im going to paint my nails.(: byee♥
ReplyDeleteDay 7 blog 7: after getting dissmised from school today i cAME HOME AND HAD an apple, yogurt, and some pretzels! then i had to go to baseball practice before i ate supper. when i got home i had supper of chicken and a salad! now watching the celtics ( I HATE LEBRON HE SHOULD JUST GO BACK TO CLEVELAND WHERE HE IS USED TO LOSING). but the habit thing of eating junk after school is begining to vanish!
ReplyDeleteToday something just motivated me and i just went and worked out right away i dont know why but i felt like it. And i ate some meat with rice some macaroni and some fruits. Oh im also on a little diet i gotta loose like 2 or 4 pounds. :)

Today I had a few bags with my clothes from the musical so when I came home I put them on one of my benches but after an hour I went upstairs to my room and put my bag back and clothes too! Yay I am not putting things down as much and I am remembering where I put things because I put things in good places! I think I am doing well and have improved a lot :)

Today to replace most of the time I would do playing video games I played Wii Fit for an hour! :) :) :) :)

and I cant wait till musical practice is over.... Cuz thats the main source of my bordom now... Even if I had something in my hands to play with, I dont think that im allowed to to get into practice anyway! well I guess I'll just have to think of something else to do when im bored

ReplyDeleteToday was, technically, not a very good day for TheWooCardinal as I am continuing to (try to) prohibit myself from eating out of boredom. After being dismissed for school, we brought Lucas home and then returned home ourselves. However, this meant that I would have a little time before I had to swim; a little time to be bored. I intially ate some pasta salad when I got home which was fine as I needed something to fuel me during practice. Then, to ensure I wasn't bored, I went outside with my brother to play catch (it was actaully my brother's idea, but looking back, it appears that playing catch stopped me from eating a whole lot). This would have been a perfect way to keep me occupied before practice because I love playing catch, but often have no one to play with. Anyways, either my brother's baseball glove isn't broken in yet or the sun was in his eyes because after about ten minutes, my brother booted the ball which I had thrown to him and it nailed him in leg. He actually has a relatively good sized bruise on his leg now (you can even see the stitches). This predicament led to us going inside and as I walked past the bread basket, it seemed to be screaming "peanut butter sandwitch" (is that how you spell it?) so I took its advice and had half a pb sandwitch which is really like a full peanut butter sandwich as I LOVE peanut butter (just like I LOVE Triscuits) and put an extremely excessive amount on the sandwich. For example, whenever I have toast for breakfast, i put about 1mm of peanut butter over every square inch so it's like I'm having toast with my peanut butter...Wow, I ahev gotten way off track...Anyways, I didn't need to pb sandwich (and potentially the pasta salad) as I was full; however, I guess I worked all the extra calories off during dryland and the supernaturally hard chllenge today (I don't know why I'm so weak...). No, probably not as I had like three sevings of peanut butter...At least I got lots of protein! 7g per serving!!!!!
Anyways, good job at the Dress Rehearsal today everyone!!! Have a good evening/night/morning (i guess) and I'll see you all tomorrow!!!
Day seven bolg seven- Yesterda I did a writen because I couldn't get to the computer. Today I said "um" once! I am really starting to get the hang of no saying it and just pausing. And by the way I did do the challange for today! Oh my gosh that was nonesense that was really hard.( especially after dance!!!!) Im glad that you appreciated the double dream hand thingy today mr. phillips! Anyways so I am continuing to use my stategy of thinking about what I am going to say before I say it so that I don't say "um". Sometimes it is really hard not to when you are thinking and you don't even notice it!

ReplyDeleteToday when i came home my room was clean. I saw an open area in the side of my room and i just threw my clothes and backpack in that area like i did beforre i started the project and it felt really good because i didnt have to put it away. I was very tired from sitting in the gym and doing the musical. So, i went to lacrosse practice and came back and saw that my room wasnt as clean as it has been the past week. So, i got mad at myself for not putting my stuff away. Now when my room is messy i get annoyed. Which is a good thing i think. This project has changed my view on being organized. I just cleaned my room and i feel better. (:

ReplyDeleteTonight after dance I came home to a fabulous meal of pasta with chicken and broccoli. It was fantastic!! You have NO idea how much I wanted to give in and have a bit more. I actually took a piece of pasta after I was done with my first portion and put it in my mouth, but then I spit it out because I knew I needed to fight this habit. I have noticed that I am getting better and I feel good because I haven't over-eaten. Does anyone have any strategies to help me not have more food after I'm full?

ReplyDeleteLog:7 So today I decided that since I havn't had tic-tacs for 3 days I deserved to have a couple so I ended up eating 6 of them. Compared to what I used to do that is actually really good haha. As this project has continued, I have found it easier to live without them but I noticed that I really want them when I'm bored like during dress rehearsal today. But besides for that I've been doing pretty good...actually i"ve been doing a lot better than I thought I was going to:) okay peace everybody

ReplyDeletewell snacks are pretty musch gone from my life now, and i saw it pat off. i have this friend named cameron and he plays basketball and he would always beat me by like 30. but when i stopped snacking, i actually had more energy from eating healthier. and today i finally beat him. i probably sound like a little kid right now but im so proud of myself. thanks for dong this project mr phillips. im finding that it doesnt really matter what other ppl say, if u dont tell urself to be strong. and im making it threw this more easily as the days go on. well gtg to bed. big social studies test 2morrow. im mad scared and i think im gonna fail :) but whateva hahahaha. peace to my ppls.
i also had pasta with chicken and broccoli for dinner and it was very good. i, however, didnt have more food because i really wasnt feeling too well. i am mostly tempted at dinner by bread because i LOVE it! The problem is, is that it is not only delicious but very filling. I think that is one of the main things that is hard for me at dinner time, but lately i've been good about it.

ReplyDeleteSo today was good, ham and eggs for breakfast, not so great a lunch, but a dinner of eggs, peppers, and french fries. What ever the eggs and peppers were though, they were really nasty so I'm never having those again. I didn't actually snack after school so I didn't have much junk food. I did however finish off my mint ice cream for desert. Other than that a pretty good day by means of eating healthier.

ReplyDeletetoday I had very little to eat. I didn't have breakfast because I woke up late. For lunch I had a turkey sandwich. I just finished dinner and it was good. We had spaghetti and meatballs. I didn't stop playing basketball since I got out of school. Lizzy, my sister, had a game and across the street was a basketball court ,so I played there. That was about an hour. Then I came home and shot around until I had to go to practice at 7. While I was at Lizzy's game I also did 15 suicides and when I got home I ran two miles.
Oh and now I'm going to do the work out challenge!!!
ReplyDeleteDay 7: So this morning i woke up kinda earlyish but it was like impossible for me to actually get up. haha. i was really tired and i didnt want to get up for school but then i remembered that we had dress rehersal so we would be doing anything really at school. but tomorrow morning probably probably wont be easy either cause i wont be able to go to bed early like i have been doing. anyway good job at the dress rehersal today!

ReplyDeleteWow awesome posts tonight everyone lets see how I can help. First off Adrianno, yes I do read all your blogs and enjoy seeing so much progress. Remember pal if you don;t fix your pride, high school and on will be constant battling.. This will cause stress which will lead to more fighting or worse. The more respect you give your parents (or anyone) the more they will give you. I battle the same issues but I have grown to understand its not worth it.
ReplyDeletePeter sandwich is the correct spelling and peanut but sandwich are great before or during workouts or athletic events for quick energy, all the time however they can be fattening.
Michaela the dinner portion thing is tough, I struggle with it at times too. You are very active so food is a must but I would suggest a bigger breakfast, a snack after school (or too), or asking someone to urge, or not allow, you to have anymore. Your doing great, keep it up!!!
James nice post and awesome with the organizational piece. It will benefit you in other areas of your life, not just a clean room. Keep it up!!!
Rachel of the sun, or something, same to you with the putting things away so you know where they are. The more you do it, the more natural it will come to you, lowering stress throughout your life. Proud of you, keep it up!!!
Rachel D. of the moon, start focusing on the positive. I know you have never shown me attitude (I think) so you can do it with everyone. Its not worth wasting time being annoying or swearing. I am glad you have restrained swearing a lot, please keep working.

Ok well Since today my motivation for waking up today was to do my hair & make up I WOKE ON TIME ! & i guess it was a SUCCESS ! Well the doing my hair wasn't but the the waking up was ! Um mm I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna have a motivation for waking up tomorrow since we have to take The BLAH Social Studies test first period but I'm still gonna try:)
ReplyDeleteI tried to do the challenge since i wasn't busy & my parents weren't home.. I didn't want to leave the dogs alone in the house so i brought them with my & since there's a field next to my house i went there.. i was doing good but then i got distracted by a Squirrel & some birds that were to lazy to fly so they were just walking on the floor -__- I DIDN'T GET DISTRACTED ! The dogs did.. i would of let them go, but there was a game going on on both fields, a softball & a baseball game, so i wasn't allowed to let them go cause maybe some people have allergies & what not & i guess it's kind of a law.. so i stopped & went home since the dogs were going crazy over some Squirrels & birds. Soooooo the challenge was a fail for me. OK well byeee Watching "The Voice" .. It's getting intense o.O

ReplyDeleteWell too late to do the workout challenge now because i'm about to go to sleep. Oh well... Today was pretty good. I'm really getting better about notbeing lazy. I did the reflection when I got hpme, and then I cleaned my room because I didn't have anything better to do and it was REALLY messy. I did go on the computer for an hour after that( I'm only letting myself go on it for an hour now), then I helped my mom around the house.
Well today I barely bit my nails. YAY! I managed not to bite them during the dress rehersal. AND NOT HAVE THE URGE TO BITE THEM DURING IT TOO. Although I did sort of end up doing it. It happened in the after musical talk with Jane. I just started biting them and I kind of knew I was doing it and didn't stop. Which isnt good. I didn't bite them on my car ride home today either (cause I was asleep) So all in all GOOD DAY WITH MINOR SETBACKS. But looking forward with optimism. GOOD JOB EVERYONE AND GOOD LUCK!!!

ReplyDeleteGood morning again everyone! Well the hardest part of the musical in my opinion is done. Woohoo!!! Again yesterday was not an easy day to eat well. Leaving the house at 7:30 and not getting home until after 10 really tests you. I did pretty well only eating a few sunflower seeds and chewing sugar free gum, but I did give in and eat a snickers for a little energy. I guess it could have ben worse, I couild have eaten McDonalds!! Hope everyone has a great day!!
ReplyDeleteday 7: For breakfast I started with a bit a of fruit and then I also had some waffless!! I'm glad I finally had some waffles because I've been waiting forever (not really but that's okay). Even though I normally post this earlier, I had gone to bed late and was wicked tired... so I slept in an extra.. hour. So I have to hurry up now and go get ready for school. By the way.. breakfast was really yummy(:
ReplyDeleteyesterday was good but i couldnt find my laptop, thats why im on this morning. im using my dad`s computer and the keyboard is french so its kinda tough. well yesterday i went jogging for 30 minutes and i ate really well.ate vegan meatballs with whole wheat spaghetti 4dinner and 4 lunch i ate yogurt and some of Rachel C`s humus, then 4 breakfast i had yogurt and a fruit but i did eat 1 piece of spicy chicken but i dont think it was that bad...i was REALLY craving chicken!!!!! and 2marrow im gonna eat chicken cause im going out 2 eat somewhere so yep =)

ReplyDeleteDay 7: yesterday i spent about an hour to an hour and a half on the computer which isn't really good compared to the last couple days. To work on avoiding it I did a little bit of laundry and i cleaned the kitchen before and after dinner.

ReplyDeletewell this past days i slept late. its really hard for me to sleep early when im not even tired sometimes. last weekend since i went to new york i slept really late and i noticed i get really tired during the day and want to sleep. i also get tired during school. when i come home from school i want to sleep but i cant because if i do i wont be able to sleep at night. last nigth i did sleep before 12 which was good because i had to wake up early this morning.............
ok, i will admit that today i did bite my nails. it was during the dress rehearsal though. at times i got a little board i admit (im not saying any class was bad, cause they were all good), and i guess i bit my nails without noticing. i gotta pay more attention next time.
ReplyDeleteDay 7: Today was the first day we actually worked in class, instead of having musical practice all day. The day went pretty well i had a couple slips but no one is really perfect. I tried to keep my anger to a minimum and that helped me to not swear. This challenge has made me improve on my bad habit a lot because I used to swear for no reason , but now if I swear its cause I am very angry but ill try my best to not swear at all.

ReplyDeleteI didn't eat any candy. I didn't have a workout either because of my dentest appointment. I woke up at 7:40 so Tomorrow I'm going to wake up at 7. I wasn't organized this morning my books weren't in my bag so my mom got mad cause we had to catch the bus.
