About Me

- Mr. Phillips
- I have been teaching at SPCC since 2004. I love interacting with students everyday and working with my peers. I also love playing and coaching basketball, playing baseball, and golfing. I love being spontaneous and riding the wave of life where it takes me. I am also very proud to have the best wife, duaghter, and a brand new edition on the way in September. My parents are a driving force in who I have become and throughout my life I have had the best friends around me who love me for who I am. God has guided me in many ways that have turned into miracles.

Idea for baby project
Whenever you get the chance to give back to people who are less fortunate I suggest you take the opportunity. I look at the baby project as a project that simulates huge responsibility. I hope your all up for the challenge. To earn $5 on MOnday for the project come up with one idea that the class can do to help out the less fortunate, are school, or a great cause. Seven years ago I decide to raise money for Monseignor Scallon which the 8th grade presents to him as a class gift, an appreciation for all he does for us. I want you to come up with your own CREATIVE idea that we can do together. Have a great weekend and please take the time to really think about it.

i think everyone should bring in a small summer toy and then we can donate it to a nearby homeless shelter
ReplyDeletethis may not be very creative [well, maybe it is] but if everyone keeps a bowl ans puts spare change in it for a week? 2? 3? i don't know but then we can donate it to some charity. does it have to be catholic charities or to mosiengor scollen? or can it be another?
ReplyDeleteand i dont sweat at all. doesnt matter if im biking for 3 hours strait
ReplyDeleteMy friend is walking for a cure for breast cancer next month and she is looking for people to support her and donate. if we all bring in some money from home, i can then give it to her and i think it would be nice to help her and the cause.
ReplyDeleteThere is something called "soles for souls" and it is an organization that collects shoes for Haiti. If we all found shoes that were in good shape or bought shoes then we can send it to the address given. I think this would be a great way to help the people in need :)
ReplyDeleteThis has probably already been done, but, for me, this would be a good one, since I have a ton of clothes that I've either grown out of or barely ever wear. We never really know what to do with them because I'm sort of tiny, so we have no family members or anything to give them to. hahaha. So everyday we could try to find something we don't need anymore and put in in a bag. it doesn't have to be anything major. then we could bring the bags in at the end of the week. I'm sure a lot of us have more clothes than we need.
ReplyDeletei think everyone should bring in a donation of money that would go towards helping Japan, or canned goods for the church.
ReplyDeleteI think that we should bring money for monsignor Scollen for his 40th anniversary at the church i think. ( dont tell any1 its a secret. we cant let any1 else know jst us.)
ReplyDeleteI think we should bring in clothes and toys for the babies of teenage mothers that can't afford to take to care of their children and buy them stuff
ReplyDeleteI think that we should go out to do something like the mustard seed, again.
ReplyDeleteI was brainstorming today during swim practice as it was pretty boring because literally all my friends were at some meet in Condors, NY which I couldn't go to. There were only five people at practice today and practice was easy because most of the kids were in a different training group; thus, I had a lot of time to think...
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I have thought of a few ideas for the baby project. First, I thought that we could all bring in some old books or magazines which we could donate to the St. Peter's Parish to distribute to the community. We could also do the same with toiletry items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste. shaving cream and razors, soap and face clothes, etc or potentially bring in sporting goods such as basketball and fottballs and sunscreen as summer is approaching. Also, we could also possibly bring in goods not only for the parish, but possibly for the veterans. I don't know if that is possibly, but it was just a thought...
hey rachel d. if we do that we should donate them to problem pregnancy.believe me people there appreciate it a ton.the stuff we would bring in would be gone in 3 days. good idea!
ReplyDeleteDoes it have to be for the needy or can it be for our school?????
ReplyDeleteIf we can do it for our school I think we should be bigger role models then we are right now!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have an idea! (light bulb)
ReplyDeletei was just setting here looking at the key bored when i got it.
we can have a yard sale at the church.
its good because tons of drivers are driving by and clark is right across from the church. And freshman need stuff for the dorms/apartments.
It is just an idea! <3
Ive been sitting and thinking and the only thing i can come up with is to donate money to St. Judes. But i like Rachels and Sarahs ideas.
ReplyDeletei think, because everyone has so many great charities in mind and we can only choose 1 we should take like 10 of them and have a class vote on which charities we'll donate our $$ to. tht way everyones idea is at least heard and concidered!! (:
ReplyDeletei think we should donate money to the church and also for the school. like Mr. Phillips said we bring 50 cents in for Monsignor,so lets bring in a dollar and 50 goes to the church and 50 goes to the school.
ReplyDeletei think we should have everyone bring in 2 dollars. 50 cents for Monsignor. 50 cents for the school. 50 cents for Japan. And 50 cents to Haiti.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that a lot of little kids are scared at night cause they know something is wrong because their families cant support them so I thought we should bring in a stuffed animal for them so they feel safer...any stuffed animal that you had when you were little and want to get rid of only one is necessary and we can give them to little kids that need them :)
ReplyDeleteI think we should do something involving kids and donating money or toys and clothes and stuff to the kids who are less fortionate. Or we could raise $ and give it towrds kids in the nearest hospitals who have dieseases or are really ill and sick who can't afford the surgery or stuff they need for them to become healthy
ReplyDeletei think we should all being in at least $3-$10 and donate it to the church or a near by homeless shelter
ReplyDeleteHow about we all bring in clothes that we are willing to get rid of and books that we can give to the parish to give to the children that need them.
ReplyDeleteWe could keep track of how many times we sinned in the day and for that many times, we could donate a penny to a very helpful charity.
ReplyDeleteUmmmm i think we should Donate some money to Pencils of Promise (P.O.P).. Which help builds school in places where kids dont go to school Cause they don't have one around where they live.. P.O.P build school, get the Supplies needed for school (Books, Desks, writing utensils, ect. ) And if enough money is raised also Computers.
ReplyDeletei thought that we could maybe have a can and bottle drive and then donate all of the profits to the St Peters Cathedral because i know that if we had a least every student bring in one or two cans/bottles we would make well over 100 dollars
ReplyDeleteHi! Well we did this at my dance studio in the winter....we asked everyone to bring in at least one piece of clothing and put it in a box. So we could ask everybody to bring in a couple of things that don't fit them or they don't really wear anymore. And they could be specificly spring/summer clothes. And each class could try to bring in more then the other and whichever one brings in the most could get a "prize" like pizza or something...because pizza is yummy. :)
ReplyDeleteI think, we should do like a car wash drive or whatever, on like.. our own time; and then people drive in we wash; and all the procedes go to charity :D
ReplyDeleteMy idea... is to have everybody go through there bookcases and the books that are "well-purposed" they could bring and we would give them away because i have about 100 right next to me that are just taking up useful space
ReplyDeleteWe could all collect our old clothes that don't fit us anoymore, toys we've outgrown; just things we don't use that would be of use to other people and give it all to charity
ReplyDeletei think we should be in groups and raise money for the kids who needs help who cant afford money to pay for any surgerys or any kind of treatment beacause think about it how would it feel when your parents are suffering to pay for any treatment for you. parents and kids arouond the world are suffering.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that we could do a second class trip of some kind, but instead of going to an amuesment park, we could go to a hospital. There are kids in hospitals who can't go to school, and I think hanging out with them for a day would help anybody suffering from diseases like cancer. We can organize projects and activities to do for the day and if they're younger kids, read story books and do some crafts.
ReplyDeleteI also love animals so we could do the same thing, except maybe go to an animal shelter and help care for the animals instead. Either way we're dedicating time to do something that will help others.
